Overview

The School delivers a very wide range of taught and research programmes at the graduate level which reflect the breadth of our disciplines and research activity. They also reflect the ubiquity of mathematical sciences in modern scientific research.

The Higher Diplomas offer a student with the appropriate background a chance to achieve the equivalent of an Honours B.Sc degree in the relevant discipline. This may be undertaken as a worthwhile end in itself, or as a foundation for more specialised graduate-level study and research.

The taught Masters programmes are intended to bring the student to a level of knowledge and understanding where they can confidently begin to study modern research literature, and can prepare to embark on a research project of their own (under supervison). A crucial component of these programmes is a dissertation counting for up to one third of the workload.

The research graduate programmes provide an opportunity to engage in supervised research on a topic of current interest in one of the disciplines of the School. The prospective student should have a strong background and proven ability in the relevant discipline. If you are interested in pursuing this option we would advise you to familiarize yourself with the Research Groups in the School and to contact prospective supervisors among the academic staff.
